“City to Vienna: Malic-like acidity, brown sugar, roasted almond, dried green apple, bittering cocoa powder, incredible body. Great espresso.” -Sweet Marias

The first sip is sweet up front, but the bitterness of the cocoa powder is right there to mellow out the brown sugar notes. The acidity does come through with a light apple note finish. I can’t tell if it was dried versus fresh, but I do get a green apple feel. The finish is clean, with the bitter cocoa and light almond notes.  As it cools, there is less acidity in the cup, but it is still balanced with the sweetness. The almond note is more noticeable, and the bitter cocoa note lingers more in the finish as well. These contribute to the medium body feeling more full as it cools.

Overall this is a good first cup of coffee in the morning. It is big in body and the almond and bitter cocoa notes balance well against the brown sugar sweetness. I roasted this to a City+ level, but I can see it gaining more body at Full City, but I am not sure the apple notes would be as bright.
